Our First Week at SBB 2

Early Monday morning we took a tuk tuk ride with our driver DH to the school. We were all really excited but a little nervous as we travelled trough the busy streets of Phnom Penh.

The school is based outside the City and you are soon travelling down dusty dirt tracks into the small village where the school is based.

Mr. Lai, Mr. Sam and Mr. Leang are the local teachers and met us outside the school. We were introduced to each of the four classes, with each student introducing themselves to us giving their name, age and what they wanted to do as an occupation. It was touching to hear them say things like Doctor, lawyer, translator; they had admirable aspirations to do well in life.

The first day was tough, when we were asked to stand up in front of the class, with all these eager faces looking up at us, wanting so much to learn.

We soon learnt that we could combine having fun and learning! The children are full of energy and keen to learn new words and speak to us in English. Teaching and having fun with the children, seeing them learn puts a smile on our faces everyday!
